Split Board of Supervisors Advance $124.7 Million Jail to Voters

Despite many comments in objection, the Johnson County Board of Supervisors voted 3 to 2 to ask voters on Nov. 3 to approve $94.5 million in debt to build a new jail on Thursday. The same Supervisors who voted to advance the ballot proposal also rejected an amendment to offer transparency of the true cost of the debt: $30.2 million in estimated interested for a total of $124.7 million in taxpayer money.

Johnson County voters can reject this plan by voting “no” on the ballot measure in this Nov. 3 election.
