“Jails provide punishment and exclusion instead of rehabilitation and support. Jails become warehouses for those with substance use disorders and mental health conditions instead of getting folks connected to services and treatment that actually helps.

“If jails worked we wouldn’t need more of them… and they are terrible for public health.”
