I’m voting “no” on the nearly $100 million jail bond this November because building a jail twice the size of our current facility puts our community at greater risk of increased ICE activity and immigration enforcement.

Excess jail capacity does not stay empty. Across the country, local jails have been used to hold people for ICE, and expanding our jail creates infrastructure that could make our community more vulnerable to increased immigration enforcement.

I stand in solidarity with our Johnson County neighbors who are vulnerable to ICE enforcement, and I reject this proposal. Join me in voting no on the jail bond.
